Key teaching dates, census dates, exams and results for the February, July and September intakes. Choose a year, then an intake, to see its dates in order.

How the year runs

Three intakes, one rhythm

Every intake follows the same pattern: orientation, teaching with a one-week break in the middle, then exams and results. These figures come straight from the dates below.

  • 3 intakes a year — February, July, September
  • 12–15 weeks of teaching per intake
  • 1-week mid-semester break
  • To 2029 dates published ahead

What these mean

The dates that cost you if you miss them.

Orientation
An introduction session held before teaching begins. Attendance is strongly recommended for new students.
Last day to enrol
The final date to enrol in units for that intake.
Census date
The last day to drop a unit without incurring financial or academic penalty. Dropping a unit after this date may still result in a fail grade and/or fees owing.
Teaching period
The span of weeks in which classes are delivered, from the first week of teaching to the end of the exam period.
Revision / study week
A break from new teaching content immediately before exams, for study and consolidation.
Mid-semester break
A short break partway through semester. 2026 intakes only — later years use a revision-week model instead.
Supplementary exams
A second exam opportunity for eligible students who did not pass in the main exam period.
GDECE Study Period 1 / 2
The Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education (GDECE) is delivered in two shorter study periods within each semester, each with its own results-release date.

All dates are based on the Lead Institute of Higher Education three-intake academic calendar. Public holiday observances follow New South Wales; students in other states should confirm local public holidays with Student Support.

While every care has been taken in preparing this calendar, students should always check the official LIHE calendar or their unit outline for the most current dates.
